Minimum Requirements

  4. Only one application per student will be accepted.
  5. Should an individual provide incorrect information during the application process and such information comes to the attention of Sasol at any later date, the invitation for the further selection process, the bursary offer or the bursary will be withdrawn/terminated with immediate effect – due to possible intentional/unintentional fraudulent action.
  6. NB. It is imperative that students understand that should the information provided during the application and/or the possible bursary interview and/or any later date differs – the application/bursary will be regarded as null and void.
  7. Mainstream Bursary shortlisting of individual for the next step in the selection process as well as identification of individuals to whom bursaries will be awarded are done carefully, taking into account our needs and strictly following the set selection criteria. We unfortunately have a limited number of bursaries available and this increases the competitiveness of applicants already meeting minimum criteria. We acknowledge the good academic performance and other attributes of applicants, however, candidates invited for our selection interviews or those to whom bursaries will be awarded to were academically more competitive and/or they fit our business requirements better.
  8. Taking into account that bursary selections are done well before students have their final results of the current study year, students apply with the results of the previous study year – for example students who applied for 1st year studies in 2026 (current matriculants) apply with grade 11 results. Should a bursary be awarded to an individual, it is done conditionally and will only be activated in the applicable study year (1st year – 2026) inter alia should the student’s 2025 results (current study year – Grade 12) be approximately equivalent to the results he/she applied with.

STEM bursaries

The Sasol Foundation offers an comprehensive bursary to talented individuals who are planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers. Non-STEM bursaries

These bursaries are reserved only for qualifying students from Sasol’s fence line communities (municipalities / districts around Sasol plants / operations); children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders; and children of Sasol employees, wishing to study towards non-STEM qualifications.  No Undergraduate / postgraduate bursaries will be offered for 2026 academic year.

These bursary opportunities are limited to South African citizens (by birth only), who are / will be pursuing degree studies at a public South African University or University of Technology.

All applicants will undergo screening based on the following criteria:

The YES programme is a business-led collaboration with government. YES seeks to reduce youth unemployment across private and public sectors. At Sasol, more than 400 (previously unemployed) youth have been provided with an opportunity to gain work experience through the Sasol YES programme.

Taking into account that bursary selections are done well before students have their final results of the current study year, students apply with the results of the previous study year – for example students who applied for 1st year studies in 2026 (current matriculants) apply with grade 11 results. Should a bursary be awarded to an individual, it is done conditionally and will only be activated in the applicable study year (1st year – 2026) inter alia should the student’s 2025 results (current study year – Grade 12) be approximately equivalent to the results he/she applied with.
  9. If a student does not submit the necessary documentation or enters incorrect academic information, their application will be considered invalid under the “criteria not met” category.

The Qualified Carpenter will be responsible for designing, measuring, and constructing cupboards, wardrobes, and other custom furniture installations. You will work with a variety of materials including melamine, wrapped boards, sprayed boards, routed boards, and doors. Accuracy, precision, and attention to detail are key, as is the ability to draw up accurate cutting lists and design functional and aesthetic solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities

As a carpenter, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Drawing accurate cutting lists and designing new cupboard installations.

  • Constructing kitchen cupboards, wardrobes, and general cupboard installations according to specifications.

  • Working with materials such as melamine, wrapped boards, sprayed boards, routed boards, and doors, ensuring proper handling and installation.

  • Reading and interpreting client plans, translating them into precise construction work.

  • Maintaining quality standards, ensuring all installations are durable, aesthetically pleasing, and functional.

  • Working independently and collaboratively, depending on project requirements.

  • Commuting daily to Stikland Industrial, where all work begins and ends.

Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid driver’s license – essential for commuting and transporting materials if required.

  • Ability to draw up accurate cutting lists for efficient material use.

  • Experience in designing new cupboard installations.

  • Proven track record in kitchen cupboards, wardrobes, and general cupboard installations.

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with:

    • Melamine

    • Wrapped boards

    • Sprayed boards

    • Routed boards

    • Doors
